Handmade Face Cover with MNEMEE from Corfu. It is made from the waist scarf that women wore in Corfu when they were engaged or newlyweds. Also the unmarried wore it on the head and was used in wedding costumes as well as in local dances. The waist scarf is called “tsoutsoumida” and on it are depicted flowers and the characteristic peacock feathers. The outer fabric is the scarf itself made with the traditional stamping technique and adapted to the pattern of the mask. For this reason, this particular face cover comes in various categories of designs regarding the composition of the stamping designs. Although the designs are categorized, no mask is exactly the same. Thus, the uniqueness that we find even between in seemingly identical traditional costumes of the people of an area is preserved.

MNEMEE Face Covers
All face covers are inspired by the tradition and culture of Greece. They are made of fabrics and traditional headscarves, which are the basis of Greek traditional cloths (cotton, silk, brocade, etc.). The baseline of their construction is the diversity of traditional costumes as it is reflected by the differentiation of designs in each type of mask.
